Why it's hot?
I accidentally stumbled across Vanilla Rooms whilst attending a fashion show in Cardiff. Being very impressed with the catwalk hair I just had to book an appointment straight away.
It's hidden amongst an array of fast food shops and restaurants on busy City Road, but don't let this put you off. Its easy to miss because of the glass fronted exterior, but look close enough and you will find it.
The salon itself is surprisingly low key. The interior is staple for a salon, beige washed walls, wooden flooring and chunky wood mirrors, but the quality here is anything but ordinary.
The stylists were busy with clients but this didn't affect the standard of service. I was immediately offered a drink and then handed a bundle of magazines which included Harper's Bazaar and Dazed and Confused. I was already a happy chappy.
After my consultation I was whisked to the wash basins for a first-class wash and an amazing head massage.
Admittedly, I can be a difficult customer when It comes to the hairdressers as I like my hair done just so. The colour technician and stylist were fantastic. They took on board my thought's and suggested a few of their own but overall listened to what I wanted and got down to work.
Best Stylist?
Ellie. Initially she was a little intimidating as she was dressed uber cool with the funkiest haircut, but as soon as we got chatting it was clear that she was really nice and down to earth. She transformed my unruly locks into a unique style fit for a superstar, which made me the envy of my friends (who might I add have all now booked in with Ellie!).
Treatment Price?
The cost for a cut and colour was around £80, which is about average for Cardiff but definitely worth every penny.
Best Part?
Exceptional haircuts! I have been to may of salons over the years and this has to be the cream of the crops! The skilled and dedicated staff gives it an edge on other salons. Vanilla Rooms has earned its place on speed dial!
