Getting home safely - Company's little black book of useful websites

Get Home Safely
Helping you get home safely is one of Company's oldest campaigns – in May '09 we marked 10 years of raising awareness in this area by visiting the prime minister, armed with six Company readers passionate about the cause. We have tried to cover many of the issues or worries you might have on your night out- public transport, fear of rape, unlicensed cabs, street lighting and CCTV. We even sent our man Jeff Maysh out as an undercover unlicensed driver to see exactly what goes on in the wee small hours.
And here are some helpful websites that all aim to get you home safely...

www.homeoffice.gov.uk/keepwomensafe - Check out this site if you want to keep track of what your government are doing to keep you safe on the streets.

Street Pastors – The guardian angels of your night out: the street pastors are ready and waiting in busy cities to hand out flip flops, water, blankets and anything else you might need. You can find out more about their work and the nearest street pastors to you on their website.

Suzy Lamplugh - This is the biggest organisation in the UK aimed at personal safety. For tips on self defence, personal safety products, and consultation services this site’s your number one stop.

Pink Ladies - A non-profit organization, Pink Ladies provide a fleet of bright pink taxis, all driven by female drivers, to get you home safely at the end of a night out/holiday/any time you like really! Membership is £10 for a whole year- for a ride home and peace of mind, it’s peanuts.
