We Heart Tuesdays: Can you rebound too soon?

Alright, so you get dumped or maybe you dump him - either way your single, but when do you move on from a break up and start looking for someone new? This week at Company HQ we’ve been discussing when it is best to move on from the break up and start looking for someone else to take up with. A couple of weeks, a month or even a year? When is it acceptable to start dating again?

Leonardo DiCaprio is a man that seems to wastes no time. This week, the Titanic romantic has been seen acting very cosy with Gossip Girl and fashion muse Blake Lively in the South of France. The pair were spotted relaxing on a yacht and enjoying candle-lit dinners, but Leo only split up with his long-term girlfriend and Israeli supermodel Bar Refaeli just a few weeks ago. We reckon it must be tough for hot Bar to see her ex-boyfriend splashed all over the papers with another woman especially so soon after they broke up.

But is Blake just a rebound? Fellow Hollywood hunk Brad Pitt didn’t even stop for a second after breaking up with Jennifer Anniston and hooking up with then co-star Angelina Jolie. They are still together now, so perhaps when it's the right person then there really is no time like the present.

Maybe it all depends on how long you have been seeing someone. One of my close friends is a classic relationship-hopper. She continually jumps from one relationship to another with usually only a few weeks in between. Now, she may have had a great time meeting new people and a new date is always exciting, but I do fear she’s with them for the company rather than for the guy – they could be anyone and that's proven every time she hops.

But how long should you wait? It takes time to get over someone you have cared about. When most people break up, they feel like they have lost a part of their identity and it can take a while to rebuild that again. Enjoy being single and appreciate me-time and being able to do what you want, when you want... And maybe along the way you’ll find someone, but even if you don’t you'll be great on your own!

How long do you think you should wait? Let us know your thoughts below...
