Where To Get Your Makeup Done For Prom

Best for looking amazing in your prom pics: Illamasqua Beauty Transformation

Every time we’ve had our make-up done at Illamasqua (which is quite a few times because they’re round the corner from our office), we’ve walked out looking a million times hotter. They’re really good at doing make-up that photographs well (ie stealth contouring and eye sculpting), so you can guarantee you’ll look amazing on Insta.

An Illamasqua Beauty Transformation costs £30 for a 45 minute session but it’s fully redeemable against products (if you’re unsure what to get, definitely buy their Skin Base Foundation – it’s incredible).

Best for natural beauty – and prommers on a budget: Bobbi Brown Complimentary Makeup Lesson

If you’ve blown all your prom budget on your dress, book a Make-up Lesson at Bobbi Brown. It’s completely free but really in-depth – in the 45 minutes session, they’ll show you tips and techniques that will totally change the way you do your make-up. They’ll do a finished look for you too so you could easily go straight to your prom after – or have the lesson in advance and then do it yourself on the night.

Completely free but you do need to book in at the counter in advance.

Best for something dramatic: MAC Makeup in 60

If you want sexy, smoky eyes or some Kardashian-style contouring, MAC is definitely your place. Their ‘Makeup in 60’ session gives you the full works, or if you just want your eyes done, go for the ‘Express Makeup in 30’. You’ll get a face chart too so can recreate it yourself next time you go out.

Makeup in 60 costs, £30; Express Makeup in 30 costs £20.

Best for giving you flawless skin: Laura Mercier Makeover

Laura Mercier is known for doing the holy grail of foundations and concealers which make your skin look totally airbrushed. They offer makeovers at all their counters – there’s a small booking fee but it’s redeemable against products so you only need to buy one thing to get the make-up application for free.

There’s a £10 booking fee which is redeemable against anything you buy on the day.

Best for going with your mates: Benefit Make-up Lesson

If you want to have a bit of girly sesh with your mates before prom, book yourselves in for a Makeup Lesson at one of the Benefit Boutiques (it’s available at Benefit counters too but the boutiques are better if a few of you want to go together). A make-up artist will give you a full tutorial on how to create whatever look you want (smoky eyes, cat-flick liner – you name it), and they’ll also create the look on you so you leave looking prom-perfect.

A Benefit Make-up Lessson costs £30, which is redeemable against products. If you don’t want a full lesson, you can pop in anytime for a quick Face Date, which is like a mini make-over with their key products – and totally free.
