REVIEW: Tregenna Castle Hotel in St Ives

Where is it? On the outskirts of St Ives, undoubtedly one of the prettiest places in West Cornwall.

How far is it from stuff? It's about 20 minutes to walk to the town centre, and 15 minutes to the nearest beach - the beautiful Porthminster beach. It's about 15 minutes walk to St Ives station.

So what's it like, then? The stunning castle is at the peak of the hill, set in 72 acres of land filled with woodland and sub-tropical gardens. In short, it's an Instagrammers dream. And when you get inside, the cheerful and helpful staff will get your trip off to a great start.

What about the rooms? Company stayed in the West Wing Sea View room, which was luxurious, spacious and airy, had a HUGE bed and a stunning view of St Ives Bay. There was also ample clothing storage (phew!) and a large sofa for extra relaxation. Rooms come with everything a girl needs for a comfy stay: spa bathroom products, hair dryers and fab full length mirrors.

Anything extra? In a word: YES! In addition to the beautiful rooms, Tregenna has a highly rated restaurant, a bar, two heated pools – one indoor and one outdoor, a fully equipped gym, a hair and beauty salon plus luxury cottages and apartments if you prefer a self-catered trip.

Any bad bits? Not as such. Tregenna is up a beautiful but STEEP hill. It makes wandering back to your room after a long day pretty tiring but your glutes will thank you for the work out. You'll need it after all the pasties you'll consume. (There's always taxis for you wusses out there - about £6 from the town centre).

Any last surprises? The hotel comes complete with its own secret (and very beautiful) shortcut path into town!
